Demise is a sudden event that could now and then have durable mental and physical consequences for individuals. In the make light of the Aisle by Patricia Leigh Gaborik a little youngster Katie and her family are figuring out how to adapt to the passing of their cherished one. We will compose a custom exposition test on Figuring out how to Cope or then again any comparative theme just for you Request Now Individuals handle the passing of a friend or family member in various manners, and Katie attempts to deal with the demise of her dad by clutching all the great recollections she had of him. Not exclusively is Katie profoundly influenced by their lost however the remainder of her family is figuring out how to adapt to their lost by taking on various jobs when he pasts. The dad is an emblematic character in this play since he is the stone of their family, since he is solid and reliable. Each character in the play encounters various clashes and changes in their relationship in the wake of losing the individual they all cherished the most. One clash experienced in the play is the connection among Katie and her mom when the passing of Katieââ¬â¢s father. Katie and her mom donââ¬â¢t have the best relationship and on occasion it appears that Katie wishes that she wouldââ¬â¢ve been in the fender bender with her dad. This is a contention since it appears as though Katie may reprimand her mom for the passing of her dad for causing him to go out while she remained at home and dealt with Katie. This causes a ton of pressure among Katie and her mom since she additionally feels as if the demise of her dad may likewise be her flaw. Toward the finish of the play Katie and her mom seem, by all accounts, to be nearer to one another and her mom even apologizes for the things sheââ¬â¢s done previously and discusses Katieââ¬â¢s father. This is significant in light of the fact that following quite a while of not so much talking about him it shows that their mom is simply beginning to adapt to his demise. Her mom states in the play ââ¬Å"I realize you generally figured I did everything wrongâ⬠(pg. 251). This shows despite the fact that she knows they didnââ¬â¢t have the best relationship in the past that sheââ¬â¢s attempting to be there for her and just needs the best for her. Katie and her sibling Joe has an ordinary sibling and sister relationship they contend a great deal and yet they care for one another. Now and again Joe even calls his sister Katie a rascal yet at the same time offers to get things done for her. The passing of their dad changed their relationship in light of the fact that Joe is by all accounts the individual that currently holds the family together. This gives off an impression of being Joeââ¬â¢s method of adapting to his fatherââ¬â¢s passing since he feels as though he must be solid for both Katie and his mom and assume the new job of the man of the house. Joe: ââ¬Å"What dââ¬â¢ya think?! Mother! The musicââ¬â¢s began! You need to get to your seat! Aw, mother. I advised you not to state that stuff. You said it, didnââ¬â¢t you? Youââ¬â¢re crying! Please! Cheerful. Cheerful! Is it accurate to say that you are upbeat? It couldn't be any more obvious, sheââ¬â¢s glad. Everybodyââ¬â¢s glad. Itââ¬â¢s an upbeat day. Letââ¬â¢s go! Letââ¬â¢s go! This statement is an incredible case of how Joe keeps everything together as everybody starts to breakdown; he speaks to the new stone and quality of their family. Katieââ¬â¢s relationship with her dad is the most significant in light of the fact that out of everybody in their family she had the nearest relationship with him. A significant clash in the story is that Katie after these previous years despite everything can grapple with her fatherââ¬â¢s demise. On her big day as sheââ¬â¢s getting ready to stroll down the path she in dreams herself having a discussion with her dad and thinking back pretty much all the great recollections they shared. Katie says ââ¬Å"I donââ¬â¢t comprehend youââ¬â¢re expected to be the one I can check onâ⬠(pg. 247). This statement shows that despite the fact that Katie may not so much get over the passing of her dad yet she is gradually arriving at where she is figuring out how to manage it. Toward the finish of the play the discussion among Katie and her mom encourages her deal with the passing of her dad since that was first time that they have really had a discussion about him. Somebody who hasnââ¬â¢t lost somebody they truly care about may not know how it feels sincerely to beat the demise of somebody they love yet passing is difficult to get over and not every person gets over it rapidly. The general topic of these contentions is that everybody figures out how to adapt to the passing of somebody in their own specific manner and at their own time. For Katie the wedding gives her beginning a fresh start for her as well as for her family too. This tendency can threaten the validity of a psychological experiment. When data is collected at two or more points in time during an experiment, there will naturally be people who begin a study but then find that they cannot continue. Dropping out of a study can occur for a wide variety of reasons and can occur in both experimental and longitudinal designs. It is important to note that selective attrition does not mean that certain people are more likely to quit a study. Instead, it simply implies that there is a tendency for people to quit an experiment for a variety of reasons. Causes The main reasons why people drop out of research studies are sometimes referred to as the four Ms: Motivation: Sometimes people simply lose the motivation to continue an experiment. They become bored and lose interest or find other things that they prefer.Mobility: In other cases, people move out of the area and are simply no longer able to continue in the study due to geographic reasons. This is especially true during longitudinal studies. When researchers attempt to locate the original participants, they may find that many have moved and cannot be found.Morbidity: Illness can also prevent people from participating in research and may lead them to drop out of a study. Participants might experience brief episodes of sickness that prevent them from participating at critical points of the study, while others might develop serious diseases or addiction relapses that prevent any further participation.Mortality: Finally, participants sometimes pass away before research studies are completed. This is particularly true for longitudinal studies centered on aging adults. Attrition Bias While selective attrition doesnât imply that certain types of participants are more likely to drop out of a study, attrition can result in a research bias when the people who prematurely exit a study are fundamentally different from those who remain in the study. When this happens, researchers end up with a final study group that is quite different from the original sample. Because of the differences between the original sample and the final group of participants, something known as an attrition bias can affect the results of the study. It is important to note, however, that if there are no systematic differences between those who complete a study and those who drop out, then the results will not be impacted by the attrition bias. Threats to Validity When certain groups of individuals drop out of a study, attrition can also affect the validity of the results. Since the final group of participants no longer accurately reflects the original representative sample, the results cannot be generalized to a larger population. Imagine that researchers are doing a longitudinal study on how cardio exercise impacts cognitive functioning as people age. The researchers begin their study by collecting data from a representative sample of middle-aged adults between the ages of 40 and 45. Over the next few decades, the researchers continue to periodically collect data on the aerobic fitness and cognitive functioning of their original sample. Selective attrition will happen naturally with a study that occurs over such a long period of time. Some participants will move, some will lose interest, some with suffer from illness, and some will even pass away. But what if certain groups of individuals become more prone to selective attrition? Suppose that widowers tend to drop out of the study more frequently than those who have a surviving spouse. Because the final sample lacks data from this group, it may no longer reflect the tendencies that exist in the overall population at large, threatening the external validity of the study and making it difficult to generalize the results to the entire populace. Internal validity can also be a problem with there are different attrition rates between the control groups and the experimental groups. If researchers were conducting an experiment on treatment for anxiety, for example, the results of the study might be biased if people in the experimental group dropped out at a higher rate than those in the control group. Consider, for example, if this attrition rate is due to anxiety that prevents participants from completing the study. Since the experimental group includes a higher proportion of individuals who benefited from the treatment, the results will be biased and suggest that the treatment was perhaps more effective than it really was. A Word From Verywell Some attrition is only natural in psychology studies. Very high levels of attrition, however, can hurt the validity of the results. Research has also shown that selective attrition can also impact research results. In one study, for example, researchers found that attrition led to overestimates of the effects of treatment. The software development industry, as is the case with many in the technology sector, is prone to rapid advancements that affect many areas, such as ongoing advancements to programming languages, development frameworks, and design patterns. Because of the cyclical nature of software paradigms, computer-based training is an excellent method of ensuring employee skill gaps are tailored to the individual, so as to customize training that fully capitalizes upon improving specific competencies, in ways the classroom settings is incapable of providing. Coupled with the ability to deliver new knowledge based upon the trainee s schedule, this training method can satisfy demanding schedules. But, careful consideration must be placed upon the quality of the computer based training, rather than believing it a panacea. From my understanding, I feel that marketing does both. We will write a custom essay sample on Marketing in Contemporary Context or any similar topic only for you Order Now It creates and also satisfies needs of customers. For establised firms, itââ¬â¢s essential to be able to satisfy the needs of customers. As they say, a satisfied customer is a profitable one. To be able to satisfy the customerââ¬â¢s needs, the firm thus tries to understand itââ¬â¢s customerââ¬â¢s needs and then attempt try to deliver it. On the other hand, new firms or marketing these days also attempt to ââ¬Ëcreateââ¬â¢ needs. By doing so, the customer have a reason to buy the product. The basic reason customers purchase anything is they need it. However if customers have a perception that they do not need it, they may not purchase the product. Hence marketing these days have evolved to create needs for customers. Marketing these days does not only mean existing customers, which have needs but also non existing customers, which have no needs. Creating needs by marketing can mean the excellent usage of promotion activities, from words on a poster to colours on it. It can also mean effective sales techniques by the door to door salesman which can talk their way to sell you anything. The traditional concept of marketing was only about sales or meeting the ââ¬Å"current needsâ⬠of a consumer. But the same cannot be felt, today with the number of firms on the rise in the same industry, state and even the same street. Everyone is in a race either to: * Capture a customer à and satisfy their needs * Create a customer and satisfy their needs. So what If the competitor has already captured the potential customer, there are many more people in the market yet to realize the need which is created but not actually needed. Letââ¬â¢s take an example. Mac Books or laptops are such a common commodity among students and even school kids irrespective of the fact that it is not really needed. Canââ¬â¢t they manage with a desktop at home? But now dayââ¬â¢s companies do more! They educate people and give them eason to buy their products and this is what people might call it ââ¬Å"creation of needsâ⬠people purchase something when they need it, if they think they do not need the product they may not purchase it. How many people today in Pakistan need I-pod? How many people really need Mobile + Internet + Camera + TV all in one set? Can we call it marketers created their needs? Being curious, as always, I inquired as to who my mother was always pleading about. The response I repeatedly received was ââ¬Å"a studentâ⬠. This made me even more curious, but I knew not to pry. A few months later I finally learned who it was; Rachel, a girl I knew simply as any other regular student in my momââ¬â¢s class. At that moment no one knew the severity of her loss of eye sight until the disease was uncovered and the sad truth was revealed. Once upon a time, in a not so far away land the life of a princess was turned upside down. Princess Rachelââ¬â¢s life was reduced from a bright flame to a flickering spark. This greatly changed her life, the lives of her parents, John and Kat, and her three siblings, Julie, London, and Boston. This disease had no signs of its coming intrusion and could not be prevented. The evil witch would invade her victims by destroying their eye sight, creating dementia, and eventually, taking their lives. In hope of being cured from this disease Princess Rachel was taken to a castle in a land far, far away, known as Boston Childrenââ¬â¢s Hospital. This is where Rachelââ¬â¢s knights in shining amour were waiting to save her, but sadly their quest would not be completed. Here her family received some heart wrenching news; the disease was incurable. This news reduced the light of hope they had into an ember amidst the fallen rubble. The carefree life her loved ones once knew soon disappeared along with the hopes and dreams they had for their little princess. Presently blind, Princess Rachel has never let the evil witch stand in her way. Her vibrant cheerful life she once knew has remained unchanged. Rachel remains the same perfect, positive princess she has always been. Rachelââ¬â¢s attitude and incredible smile is as infectious as happiness when a small child reads a fairy tale, much like the one Rachel that lives. Rachelââ¬â¢s positive attitude influences not only myself, but she creates a spark of hope in everyone she meets and sometimes a flame emerges. She ignited this flame in me; Rachelââ¬â¢s story and my relationship with her have completely changed my outlook on life. I have learned that I can do anything and when I feel I cannot I think, if Rachel is able to live with this deadly disease and still maintain an uplifting attitude, then so can I. The change I have experienced from being close to Rachel has made me a more motivated, hardworking, and determined individual. These characteristics that I have improved upon are applied to everything I do whether it be academics, theater, mock trial, or volunteer services, and I will continue to apply these qualities to everything I go in the future. Although Rachelââ¬â¢s life seems very dimly lit, you never know when a bright spark may come into sight. To many it seems that there could never be a happily ever after in her fairy tale, but in reality it remains unknown because the story has yet been completed. A life is still there to be lived, and a happily ever after could always appear even with the smallest glimmer of light. Maybe someday Rachel will be able to look back and see all the pages she has written for the inspirational story, that is her life. Abstraction: Some euphemisms serve to distance people from unpleasant or embarrassing truths, as when we say that a dead person passed away or a celebrity who has canceled an appearance is suffering from exhaustion. 2. Indirection: A euphemism may replace an explicit description of an action, as when people speak of going to the bathroom or of others sleeping together. 3. Litotes: Sometimes, euphemism occurs in the form of this rhetorical device in which the gravity or force of an idea is softened or minimized by a double negative, as in the reference to someone as being not unattractive. 4. Mispronunciation: Alteration of pronunciation is a form of euphemism, as when we say frigging or shoot, or jeez or cripes, so as not to offend people by using profanity (figurative or literal). These types of euphemisms, involving rhyme, alliteration, or shortening, are also called minced oaths. 5. Modification: A bluntly offensive noun can be transformed into a euphemism by converting it to an adjective, as in saying someone has socialist leanings rather than labeling them a socialist outright. 6. Personification: One form of euphemism is when things that some people prefer not to mention candidly, such as genitals, are assigned personal names. (I will go beyond euphemism and let readers think of examples on their own.) 7. Slang: Much of slang, derived to produce a vocabulary exclusive to a social group, is euphemism, as in the use of joint for marijuana (itself a slang term, derived from the Spanish names Mary and Juana closely related to ââ¬Å"Mary Jane,â⬠yet another euphemism). Corporations and government bureaucracies, including military services, are masters are creating euphemisms of abstraction and indirection such as pre-owned for used, effluent for pollution, and ââ¬Å"collateral damageâ⬠in place of ââ¬Å"accidental killing.â⬠Euphemism is also often employed in an attempt to make polite reference to physical or psychological disability, though some people argue that while a trend toward ever more euphemistic language seems to accord people so labeled more respect, euphemism can also diminish the public perception of the seriousness of the condition. Not all euphemism is deplorable, but much of it is, and writers and editors must search their consciences and uphold their principles in deciding whether to couch terms or whether to use straightforward language. Although an increased likelihood of euphemism seems to correlate with the extent of distribution of a publication, it is also often true that the more widespread the readership of a publication, the safer it is for those who produce its content to be blunt and honest. This is important in the context of an increasingly repressive America in which the movie was set in and released. The space of the carnival is invoked here and this makes one aware of the need for freedom in the everyday lives of men and women. This then becomes an important motif in the movie. This paper shall look at different aspects of the movie and also of its production. It shall do so through an examination of the conditions of its production and the people who were involved in the production of the movie. Dennis Hopper is considered to be one of the first of the directors in Hollywood to have broken from tradition and to imbibe in his methods of filmmaking the rebellious air of the 1960s and 1970s (Dennis Hopper, n.d.). This made him a very popular figure, even though the success of Easy Rider could not be replicated until much late r. The movie in that sense depicts his style of filmmaking and his ideology regarding the process of filmmaking very well. Hopperââ¬â¢s ideas of filmmaking were inspired by the counterculture of the United States of America which was at its heights when the movie was released. The movie remains one of the most important contributions to the development of the agency of the youth of America. After this wave of the counterculture, there was hardly any understanding of the need to revolt for a while in America, something that was recovered in the decades to follow. In terms of the genre of the movie, one may say that Easy Rider falls within the genre of a road movie. A road movie provides certain set patterns of moviemaking to the filmmaker and Hopper abided by this during the making of the movie. The angles that were used during the shots were almost always that which enabled a realistic portrait of the main characters. This involved shots that were taken from a close angle that al lowed the illusion of movement to the audience. This is one of the most important aspects of a road movie. The illusion of movement and pace is provided to the audience which is then gripped with suspense as to the next movement of the characters on screen. The importance of this lies in the fact that the pace of the movie is something that led the audience to identify with it and also to turn it into a cult classic. The fact that Peter Fonda was a part of the cast was a very important step in establishing for the audience the genre of the movie. It also established the nature of the movie as one that was opposed to the hegemonic culture of the times. Fonda had acted in a movie called The Wild Angels in 1966. This was a road movie as well and was a path breaking achievement in its own right (The Easy Rider, n.d.). This opposition to the hegemonic culture earned the movie great success despite the lack of a great deal of technical innovation in the body of the movie as such. The genr e of a road movie was something that was popular even before the release of this movie and it incorporated many of the motifs of the road movie. This included a generous dose of machismo that played a great part even in the final denouement of the movie. The plot, in a great way, is driven by these ideas of machismo that also was a large reason Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7371933407960705089.post-77493010519456435532020-02-01T19:51:00.001-08:002020-02-01T19:51:02.049-08:00Discuss how branding adds value with reference to the cases namely 3M, EssayDiscuss how branding adds value with reference to the cases namely 3M, Singapore Airiness, AMEX, Club Med, Haagen Daaz - Essay Example concepts were adopted by its management in order to innovate, reorient, strategically position and redefine its then existing strategic branding techniques. An articulate strategy of brand value creation along with a customer loyalty management approach was adopted in the 1980ââ¬â¢s in response to competitorsââ¬â¢ threat to its core business, viz. the American Express card. Indeed almost 900,000 federal employees use the American Express card to settle bills to the tune of $250 billion annually though the company has had to do everything under its power to avoid being pushed into the red. The 1980ââ¬â¢s were marked by stiffer competition from its parallel rivals like the Visa card, MasterCard and so on. In fact while the total expenditure on credit cards increased from a mere $250 billion in 1985 to $1,000 billion in 1993, the market share of American Express was either stagnant or actually falling. It was around this time that the management of the company realized the relative significance of a strategic shift in its brand management and value creation approaches. Coupled with a mammoth advertising campaign, the company sought convincingly to introduce innovation, value for money, smartness and classlessness as the new dynamic concepts in a customer-oriented promotion campaign. This strategic shift in companyââ¬â¢s brand equity policy approach worked to such an extent that soon its rivals began to copy some of its fundamental principles (Neal & Strauss, 2008). The loyalty management program of American Express was probably the best strategic tactic that paid handsome dividends later on. Unlike its rivals, American Express began to innovate with both adverting and loyalty management. For instance its ââ¬Å"Quality Peopleâ⬠advertising slogan appealed to people across class and social barriers because it focused on the dynamic value proposition. Few authors make the decision to use first person narration by secondary character as Ken Kesey does in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.à By choosing Bromden as narrator instead of the central character of Randle Patrick McMurphy, Kesey gives us narration that is objective, that is to say from the outside of the central character, and also narration that is subjective and understandably unreliable. The paranoia and dementia that fill Bromden's narration set a tone for the struggle for liberation that is the theme of the story. It is also this choice of narrator that leads the reader to wonder at the conclusion whether the story was actually that of McMurphy or Bromden. Kesey's choice of narrative technique makes One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest a successful novel. It would be hard to ignore biographical information when analyzing a work by Ken Kesey, because of both his involvement with the Beat writers and as an advocate for hallucinogenic drugs. In fact, it is said that Kesey created the narrator of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest during a peyote hallucination, when an Indian came to him (Tanner 21). While his choice of the Indian, a supposed deaf mute, as narrator seems out of the norm it is even more so when comparing Kesey to the other Beat writers. McMurphy can be compared closely to Dean Moriarty of Jack Kerouac's On The Road, but Bromden is nothing like Kerouac's narrator, Sal Paradise. Certainly the loud and boisterous McMurphy would have made for an interesting narrator for this novel but this would have provided for a very different ending. Even the... ...oo's Nest. Ed. George J. It peaked his interested, so he began to count. There were over seventy. Christopher Mills had been introduced to the discussion of gender. Growing up, most children are introduced to two binary genders: male and female. Gender is different than sex. Sex refers to a personââ¬â¢s biological makeup: ââ¬Å"configuration of chromosomes, hormones, gonads (ovaries, testicles), reproductive units (sperm, egg), and internal and external anatomyâ⬠(Herbenick and Baldwin, par. 5). Gender is your expression of femininity or masculinity. A person may vary between feeling like a female or male, both, or neither. As society is culturally advancing, it should do so legally as well. There is a need for recognition of more than two genders in the United States, which are not binary like female and male. The main problem of the high amount of alcohol abuse in the state, can not only just be blamed at the people, but also should be blamed at the authority over them. We will write a custom essay sample on The main problem of the high amount or any similar topic only for you Order Now Somehow the governmentââ¬â¢s function machinery seems too weak to handle the problem, and no proper steps have been taken till date that would help curb the problem. The relaxed laws, are the icing on the cake when it comes to the abuse in alcohol, as people have taken it for granted and know about the maximum punishment the state has to offer, when it comes to over drinking or to Alaskaââ¬â¢s biggest problem, ââ¬Ëunderage drinkingââ¬â¢; which is why the pathetic condition of the state in regards to alcoholism can be seen. Curbing the problem is not very easy, and steps have to be taken which have to be imaginative and out of the way category to put an end to the stateââ¬â¢s meaningless alcoholism. More care can be given in counseling in schools, so that children from the age of 12 understand the bad effects of alcoholic abuse, and can learn to compete and to tackle the pressure of alcoholic parents and the pressures of the peer group to remain sober. Laws should be more vindictive when itââ¬â¢s coming to alcoholism in the state, and harsher punishments should be given than just monetary fines. People committing crime under the influence of alcohol, should be punished more strictly than compared to other states, as there is a serious rise in alcohol related crimes and felonies. More forces should be used to curtail smugglers providing illegal liquor in dry areas, as they have almost ruined the small rural areas of the state. A proposed solution to the problem would be that every person in the state, should be given liquor permits, on the basis of compulsory psychological and physical tests, where his limit to alcohol would be based on the severity of his alcoholic problem, giving the government insights of severity of citizens along with getting sound demographic knowledge of alcohol abused areas. Since the beginning of civilization, man has always had tried to acquire a habit, that would keep him occupied and would make him content, at the cost of others. Strange as it may seem, man had developed the production of alcohol not too far after he understood the concept of still agriculture, and end of nomadic life also bought in an era of a time, where the concept of being in an inebriated state was realized. Alcohol has been introduced and has been cherished by all the civilizations that have come and that have been responsible for the development of mankind. Alcohol in those times, were used as medicine, God offerings, for nutrition purposes and was used for different sets of rituals and traditions that the natives followed apart from gratification. In todayââ¬â¢s times, alcohol has become an integral part of our culture, and apart from beer and wine, which were the olden times favorite beverages, we have now options for the choicest of choicest drinks and cocktails available to us with great ease. Any pleasure activity that is done in control is well appreciated, but the problem occurs with an uncontrollable desire to continue doing pleasure activities, without understanding the consequences, and falling into the trap of addiction. This addiction trap, initial gains access to individuals, then groups, then large sections of the society, and finally it consumes an entire state, like the current condition of Alaska. à Alaska, is probably the best example of effects of alcohol abuse on a very large scale, and the whole stateââ¬â¢s function is collapsing and the state output is being wastedon it residents, as the inhabitants of the state have reached a stage known as ââ¬Å"disease of dependencyâ⬠, because of high alcohol consumption. The problem with the state is itââ¬â¢s firstly very sparsely populated, and it suffers from a high percentage from the phenomenon of brain drain right after high school. Moreover in the winter the climate goes down berserk, and temperature can go down below -50 degree Celsius. This extreme cold also prompts the natives to drink more than the quota of an average American, and the natives love for alcohol has given the state an average of alcohol consumption more than double when compared to the national average for alcohol consumption. The report of the Alaska native federation stated the alcohol abuse has badly gripped the state of Alaska, and the entire state was heading for doom, as the effects of the alcohol were quiet drastic. Answer: Introduction: Quantitative Research is an objective research and it is appropriate to use it for studying relationship between different variables which could be independent, dependent or extraneous. The questions in this kind of research start with when, how, do/does etc. Questions like How often do you visit a movie theatre? require the use of this method for collecting numerical data as this research deals in numbers and focuses more on numeric and unchanging data (Castellan, 2010). Different types of instruments used in this research include surveys and questionnaires. The questions used are mostly close-ended but may provide an option for subjectivity to understand the outliers. These close-ended questions help the researcher quantify the data from the number of responses. A Likert scale is a 5 or 7 point scale which ranges from Strongly agree to strongly disagree (Figure 1) and is used when underlying attitudes or opinions to a particular question have to be measured. Numerical data having a baseline along with improvements being depicted by a line graph can be collected in cases where there are variations in one or more variables over a time period that is continuous. They are useful in identification of trends and patterns in the data like turning points, large changes and seasonal effects for example annual rates of unemployment and monthly rainfall. Statistical data analysis is employed particularly for supporting hypotheses and providing the credibility to both the research methodology as well as the conclusions. It is used when researchers need assistance in evaluating the usefulness and credibility of the information and making appropriate decisions based on it (Leedy Ormrod, 2016). Qualitative Research Qualitative research is a subjective research and intends to understand peoples experiences of a particular issue. Being exploratory in nature, it does not start with a preconceived hypothesis. It is used when the researcher doesnt know what the responses to a research would be and hence would want to discover the same through research (Burnard, Gill, Stewart, Treasure, Chadwick, 2008). Qualitative methodology is useful for collecting narrative data at times when the real life experiences have to be investigated by the researcher(Paiva, 2008). The questions for this research would be open-ended and would normally start with what or how. For example - how do college students celebrate their Independence day? Data collection is mostly in form of words which requires the researchers to go through the whole transcript of interviews several times for understanding the experience of each participant. Researchers themselves are the instruments and they observe the behaviors of people while collecting the data. This is one of the reasons why Qualitative research has emergent design i.e. the method of their study may change, during the process of collecting the data for a particular research, because some new data has come to light which will impact the purpose of the study and the researcher needs to include/observe for himself the impact of the new data. Quotations can be collected for reflecting the experiences of the participants particularly in cases where sales and marketing presentations have to be made. The own words of the participants on the meaning and value of solutions and products provide high credibility levels and are invaluable for marketing and selling products (Weddle, 2013). The converting power of strong narratives told by advisers is emphasised in Johanssonââ¬â¢s article, in which direction consulting is conceptualised through the metaphor of story-making, placing co-operation and contemplation as characteristic characteristics. A specific consultancy procedure is interpreted as a co-operative attempt between the adviser and the client it which secret plan lines and characters are constructed, with secret plan s being either opened or closed and characters can be settled or negotiated. Therefore, story-making as a brooding act moves between heightening contemplation and preparing for action, and helps relieve client insecurities, by stating them a narrative where the consultantââ¬â¢s concluding solution is the 1 that fits the clientââ¬â¢s demands. In contrast, Collins ( 2004 ) assesses the virtues of analyses that have called for a more developed and constructive academic battle with the direction consultancy industry. He argues that efforts to restructure academic involvement in the consulting industry will make little to better our grasp of the complex and mediated nature of direction advice so long as these both foremost remain trussed to a repudiation docket, and secondly concentrate entirely on the production of advice. As a consequence of these statements, he attempts to refocus attending on the ingestion of direction cognition, and on the users of advice, whilst directing attending to the users of formulas and cookery books as a metaphor. Hence, the article argues that a more constructive relationship with direction practicians awaits those who can ââ¬Å"conceive of the grounds, fortunes and procedures that might interpret concern procedure reengineering ( BPR ) into entire quality direction ( TQM ) and ââ¬Ëbrandy b utterââ¬â¢ into ââ¬Ëvodka margarineââ¬â¢.â⬠In other words, Collins appears to believe that there advisers who can offer existent, touchable and mensurable solutions, instead than replies to client insecurities, have the chance to develop better relationships with their clients, and therefore diminish their exposure to market motions. Indeed, Craig ( 2005 ) is one of the biggest advocates of the instance against direction consultancy companies, and has existent credibleness, holding worked as a direction adviser for 20 old ages. Whilst Craig does non really cite the theories of Karl Marx ( 1867 ) , but he does corroborate Marx s observation that the staunchest advocators of capitalist economy will ever seek to pull strings the system in their favor. For illustration, a typical direction consultancy contract stipulates that the client will pick up the measure for the adviser s travel disbursals, which sounds sensible, until you consider that most consultancies have a trade with a travel agent, or agents, vouching them an terminal of twelvemonth volume price reduction. So, whilst the bill will be right at the clip of entry, the existent cost will be up to 25 per cent lupus erythematosus, a derived function that ends up in the consultancyââ¬â¢s histories, demoing that said consultancies are frequently diffident as to whether or non they will bring forth adequate gross from fees entirely. With respects to the work itself, harmonizing to Craig, most advisers are glorified time-and-motion analysts whose solution constantly plundering a big proportion of the work force. Once that has been achieved, along with the obvious cost nest eggs, they so move on to doing more money by selling ââ¬Å"technology solutionsâ⬠which, it emerges, are about ever contradictions in footings, as the jobs associated with the installing and direction of the new engineering frequently outweigh its benefits. Indeed, this is perchance one of the best illustrations of the insecurities which drive the industry: directors at houses are frequently so out of touch with modern engineering, and worried about being left buttocks, that they are willing to pass big sums of capital on implementing new systems, without sing whether or non they need them. ( Czarniawska and Mazza, 2003 ) It can credibly be argued that if concerns are foolish and insecure plenty to ask for advisers in, and so accept sub criterion or gratuitous work from them, so that is their job. Bruce ( 2004 ) argues that the thoughts of independency, nonpartisanship and good sense should be at the bosom of any direction plan, but these traits are mostly ignored by most companies. Therefore, the history of direction thoughts has been one of the seamless flows of ways by which companies, with a small aid from a consultancy house, have sought to transform their concern methods. However, these direction ââ¬Ëfadsââ¬â¢ have frequently been extraordinary, with nest eggs from changed procedures or additions in stockholder value, which seem to get down turn overing through the organisation, and frequently rather echt advantages do accrue. However, whilst most of these plans have produced initial successes, after a twosome of old ages, the direction squad which instigated the immense consultancy plan s tarts to interrupt up as people move on, and the new squad that bit by bit assembles does non needfully desire to transport on with what are now the old thoughts, as they are connected with the jobs and insecurities of the old direction. Besides, particularly when the consultancy favours manner and storytelling over substance, ââ¬Å"it becomes really hard to place which successes or failures are to make with the planetary or domestic economic system traveling in different way and which to make with the internal and external attempts at the company.â⬠( Bruce, 2004 ) Many writers claim that the manner for ââ¬Ëconsultant bashingââ¬â¢ began with the most successful consultancy craze of recent history, re-engineering, which was driven by the managerial position of their current systems and processes as being outdated and deficient. ââ¬Å"Critics claim that advisers treated re-engineering as a panacea for every complaint, and that they ignored the human side of direction, giving such intangible goods as committedness and creativeness to short-run efficiency. As a consequence, re-engineering normally led to demoralization and break instead than the radical betterments in efficiency touted by its proponents.â⬠( Wooldridge, 1997 ) Significantly, the academic laminitiss of re-engineering theory accept many of these charges, though they blame the direction advisers who, they say, misunderstood and misapplied their thoughts, in an effort to suit re-engineering to any job they discovered at a company. Although Wooldridge claims that many advoca tes of the theory admit that most efforts at re-engineering have ended in failure, Fincham and Evans ( 1999 ) explored concern procedure reengineering as a consultancy solution in the context of strategic alteration direction, instead than simply a one off ââ¬Ëcure allââ¬â¢ attack. The found that modern procedure techniques used in consultancy, together with the nature of the responsible adviser function as being accountable to client, lead to the development of solutions which reliant on techniques and conceptual models, and therefore provided existent, touchable benefits. However Wooldridge ( 1997 ) claimed that these developments were excessively late, and that the recoil against re-engineering has turned into a recoil against direction crazes in general, and against the advisers who push them. Critics have two chief ailments, the first of which is that crazes fail to present, with re-engineering programmes being launched with great ostentation, merely to melt out as employees get bored, and directors move on to the following thing. Indeed, many consultancies react, and promote, managerial insecurity, by presenting so many crazes at the same time that directors have no opportunity of implementing them. The 2nd ailment is that, even where crazes lead to action, they frequently do more injury than good, by converting companies that they are undertaking their jobs, whilst deflecting clip and attending from the existent concern of direction. Above all, they frequently prompt the incorrect sort of action, frequently doing companies to acquire rid of in-between directors whose experience and connexions are unreplaceable, and bring forthing a ââ¬Å"cult of empowermentâ⬠( Wooldridge, 1997 ) , which has been blamed for promoting Bankss such as Denudations to manus excessively much power to junior staff, who so abused said power. In decision, many critics point out that many of the universe s best companies neer bother with crazes, as they have the assurance to trust on their ain judgement, and they have the common sense to gain that their jobs are peculiar to them and can non be treated with off-the-rack redresss. This can be said to be true of any peculiar company, and therefore direction consultancy can so by an insecure concern, if directors are insecure plenty to allow it be sold to them as such. However, if a house has the intelligence, common sense, and nervus to demand a trim solution, specific to their companyââ¬â¢s jobs, so they can bask existent benefits from the alone solutions and external cognition and experience that consultancy houses can convey. The need to adopt floor-ready merchandise would address the uncertainty of replenishment. Such model allows the implementation of a rapid stock-replenishment strategy. Besides, adoption of continuous replenishment or supplier-assisted inventory replenishment would assist in streamlining H1. Adoption of Periodic review and Continuous review (Silver, 1998; Moustakis, 2000). Refers to the frequencies of evaluation that determines when to place an order for the replenishment. To place a replenishment order, a pre-determined level (re-order level or re-order point) is set so guide continuous reviewing process when the stock falls below the inventory level. Continuous review is most appropriate for companies using IT systems in tracking inventories. H1 could also be reviewed periodically. Under this model, inventories are evaluated at a particular frequency. During the rev iew, if the stock levels are below the predetermined level a replenishment order would be placed (Silver, 1998; Moustakis, 2000). However, if it is still within the cycle, the reordering would be ignored. Using the fixed stock quantity (230 units) together with a reorder quantity of 300 units are used alongside the continuous review. It assumes an Instantaneous replenishment of order. Involves placing orders when it falls below the 300 units re-order level (which is predetermined). The process triggers order when the stock falls below a predetermined reorder level. Why might these levels of income be different? National Income is the level of total output, expenditure or income of an economy over a period of time. The main measure of NY used around the world today is Gross Domestic Product, or GDP. This is a measure of all domestic production, that is, production not including trade, which takes into account the value of indirect taxes such as GST. Full employment level of National Income means the level of total output attained when unemployment is at a socially acceptable level. In most cases this is around 5%, however it does tend to vary. If a government sets a target unemployment level and this is reached, the economy is said to be operating at full employment (Nf). Full employment also includes something called the natural rate of unemployment, which includes seasonal and frictional unemployment, as well as those individuals who do not wish to be employed. In other words, the natural rate of unemployment is the proportion of the workforce which voluntarily remain unemployed whilst the labour market is in equilibrium. We can see, therefore, that full employment may include some unemployment, although it is usually a small percentage of the working population. Equilibrium level of employment, however, may have a larger level of unemployment. The diagram below represents a situation in which the full employment level is illustrated. National Income $100b This diagram presents a situation where the SRAS and the AD curve intersect on the LRAS and $100b is the NY. The terms used in the diagram must be explained. SRAS stands for short run aggregate supply, which is the relationship between the aggregate supply of all final goods and services and the price level, holding all else constant. In the short run, the prices of final goods and services can change, but the factor prices do not. Because of this, it is not possible to generalise the time period referred to by the word short, as factor prices can change at any time for numerous reasons. The SRAS is upward sloping because of the law of diminishing returns, that is some inputs can increase whilst others may not, and the fact that resource bottlenecks may occur when the economy moves towards Nf. AD stands for aggregate demand,, which is the sum of all planned spending in an economy. The slope of the AD curve is due to the income effect and the substitute effect. AD is calculated by Consumption + Investment + Government spending + (Exports ââ¬â Imports), or Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0
